Editor's Note

By Karen Long

While a teenager at Rainbow Ranch, Karla Switzer bought a six-year-old wild and very pregnant mare for $10 from a Kansas kill pen. Together they would change each other’s lives. Now training horses and performing with them is Karla’s full-time job, and she has a chance to pay it forward. Other personal stories in this issue: Landon Huslig on launching Wichita Life ICT; designer Tiffany Farha on her boutique, Shop Tiffany; and LewJene Schneider on her down-home Thanksgiving traditions, celebrated at a cattle ranch in Phillips County.
