Beauty to the people

Seva Beauty brings new type of spa to Wichita

Written by Kelsey Ralston

There’s a reason “spa days” are considered a luxury. For one thing, they’re usually expensive. And secondly, finding the time to pamper yourself can be challenging. But a new spa in town is changing the game — Seva Beauty.

As a fast-casual spa, Seva believes clients shouldn’t be limited by cost or time when it comes to beauty services. The franchise lives up to its mantra of “Beauty to the People” by providing one-stop-shop convenience and price points everyone can afford.

“Seva is a Sanskrit word that translates loosely to ‘serve selflessly,’” said Randi Kay Graham, owner of two Seva locations in Wichita. “We believe every client deserves to feel special. I fell in love with the concept that our clients may treat themselves whether they have $10 or $100 available to spend. We keep the cost as low as possible without compromising quality.”

Clients also don’t have to feel guilty about time spent at the spa. “You can get in and out of Seva quickly or you can stay a while for a little relaxation,” Graham said. “It's all up to you.”

Seva has 200 locations nationwide, and each is independently owned and operated. In March 2016, Graham opened the first Seva in the region at New Market Square, and the Towne East Square location opened later that year.

After looking into numerous business concepts, Graham said she didn’t feel inspired until she encountered Seva.

“My education background is chemistry and accounting,” Graham said. “It helps me understand the science behind beauty and gives me the ability to analyze the business side. I am blessed with an amazing staff who believes in my dream to bring ‘Beauty to the People.’”

Whether you’re looking to remove unwanted hair, solve skincare issue, get flirty lashes or even something else, Seva offers an array of services to help clients feel beautiful.

“We help clients find their unique version of beauty,” Graham said. “Our goal is to help each client leave the studio with confidence.”

The team of 11 licensed estheticians and cosmetologists — and three beauty ambassadors — also specialize in threading facial hair, brow shaping and tinting, facials, body waxing and makeup applications. “We always say, ‘We don’t do hair or nails,’” Graham said.

Seva provides affordable and guilt-free services in a welcoming environment, making it the perfect place for clients who have never tried beauty services before or for regular spa-goers.

“The front of both studios at times reminds me of the beauty shop in ‘Steel Magnolias’...ladies laughing and having fun together,” Graham said. “Yes, I know that dates me.”

Clients aren’t the only ones having fun at Seva — the staff seems to love it too. “Seva has been successful because we have an amazing team of motivated girls and a very determined and wonderful owner!” said Emily Knox, manager at the New Market Square location.

Knox, a graduate of Eric Fisher Academy and a licensed esthetician, joined Graham’s team before the first studio opened. “She told me her vision for Seva and I knew I wanted to be a part of it,” Knox said.

Now, Knox spends her days making clients look good and feel good about themselves, even if it’s only temporary. But she said Seva has made a more permanent impact on her life for several reasons — and Graham is one of those reasons.

“She is such an inspiration and makes me want to be a better person and a better esthetician every day,” Knox said. “Also, I've had the pleasure to get to know the wonderful coworkers and become very close with them. We truly are a little family here at Seva and I have no idea what I'd do without my girls!”
