Wesley Children’s Foundation hosts third annual event to help Kansas kids

Written by Sara Garrison

Since 2015, Wesley Children’s Foundation has worked to support the health and wellness of children across the state of Kansas. Through ongoing education and training, preventive medical programs and community partnerships, the Wesley Children’s Foundation gave more than $111,715 in programs and services to Kansas families in 2017.

“At the Wesley Children’s Foundation our goals are simple: we support children and families in Kansas and promote the health of Kansas kids, not just at Wesley Medical Center, but across the state,” says Jill Bosley, executive director, Wesley Children’s Foundation.

The Wesley Children’s Foundation organizes support groups for families, including a pediatric oncology support group and a chronic medical care support group. Additionally, Wesley Children’s Foundation provides car seats to families in need, offers bereavement items to families who have lost a child, music therapy to pediatric patients at Wesley and financial assistance to offset the medical costs associated with having a child with a long-term illness.

“We offer families the ability to apply for financial assistance. This assistance can help take the financial burden off of families who are struggling to pay their medical bills, provide their children with the medical equipment they need or to offset the travel costs for families who must travel out of the state for their child’s medical care,” says Bosley.

Last year the Wesley Children’s Foundation provided families with $14,836 in medical-related financial assistance.

On Friday, Aug. 24, Wesley Children’s Foundation is hosting Wine Women & Shoes. The event will include a live and silent auction, fashion show, food and a marketplace where attendees can shop local and national vendors selling items including jewelry, home goods, purses and shoes.

The 2016 and 2017 events sold out and organizers are expecting a sold out event again this year. “Only 470 tickets are being sold for the third annual event, so we encourage you to buy your tickets early. Wine Women & Shoes is not just for women, it is a fun event for everyone to enjoy,” says Bosley.

In 2017, Wine Women & Shoes raised $152,157. This year 100 percent of all event proceeds will support the Wesley Children’s Foundation. All donations stay right here in Kansas, helping Kansas children and their families.

“The Wesley Children’s Foundation is a hidden gem,” says Bosley. “Children are our passion and we are here to lend a helping hand to support Kansas children and families.”
